An escapist from a conformist world

Hello and welcome to my journal. I'm here to keep up with family, friends, and random people. People are fascinating, and LJ is much better than having people in my home; I don't have to get dressed up and clean everything when you all live in my computer.

I am a night owl who sometimes comes out during the day. I prefer being up all night. Besides, I live in a desert - it's cooler then. I'm a confirmed night owl who is trying very hard to live on a diurnal schedule. It sucks.

I have this great husband, but he told me that he must remain humble so I shouldn’t go on about him (even though he is well-read, intelligent, and in possession of a wicked sense of humor while being incredibly cute and very supportive). He means the world to me.

My son has TAR Syndrome. He is an adult now and has his own home. I guess that makes me an Empty Nester. I am very proud of him.

I can sew, silversmith, weave, embroider, bead, draw, play flute and piano, pattern draft, and perform other craftiness given the proper tools. Some not well, but most of them at least somewhat competently.

I like fantasy, cyberpunk, steampunk, historical, and just about any other costuming. I think clothing should be fun as well as practical. Some day I will dress to reflect this belief. In the meantime, loose and comfy is my mantra.

I am an accountant by trade but not currently employed. I am having doctor adventures to find out the source of some health issues so that I can be functional in both my home environment and, eventually, a work environment. I've been doing the stay-at-home, hermit thing between necessary outings. It suits me.

Friending: I love to read, and I love to read just about anything – books, magazines, cereal boxes, blogs... If you don’t know why you are on my friends-list, it is because I like the way you express yourself. If you have a problem with that, let me know and I’ll remove you. I have no expectation of being friended back (except for those I friended so that I can read your locked fic entries - please add me, I really do wish to read them!). I also have no problem should you wish to friend me. I rarely comment unless I know you well; say something if that needs to change.
